As a car enthusiast, I'm always looking for new and innovative ways to measure my vehicle's performance. I recently stumbled upon the Dragy GPS performance meter and was immediately impressed by its features. In this review, I will share my experience with the Dragy and why it's a must-have tool for any car enthusiast looking to track their vehicle's performance.

From its compact design to its advanced GPS technology, the Dragy is a game-changer in automotive performance measurement. So get ready to see why the Dragy GPS performance meter is quickly becoming one of the most popular tools in the industry. Side note, do not mind how slow my car is.

DRAGY FOR IOS AND ANDROID

Performance tracking has a relatively recent history; most devices are expensive and bulky. Dragy is changing all of this. Dragy is required before you can order your device online. To get started, the free application does not require you to sign up.

These are the first impressions of the apps:

  • Dragy will prompt you to download the Dragy App. The app loads quickly.
  • After everything has loaded up, you will see an easy-to-use interface with a button that says "connect."
  • There are a few tabs below the button that you can click on. But I'll get to those in a bit.
  • Dragy App gets 9/10 stars from 0-10 for its ease of use and no-nonsense features.
  • The only real issue I discovered when testing the Dragy App was that it took some time before letting you Export your videos. Sometimes I had to force-quit the app and open it up again.

The Dragy GPS Device

Dragy inside of the box

Let's discuss the Dragy GPS-based device and what you can expect from it. After downloading the app and enabling BLUETOOTH, you can turn on your device. I quickly realized that I needed to charge Dragy before attempting to test it. The charging time isn't extremely long, which is a great thing. There is a red LED light that slowly pulsates while the device is charging. Once the device is done charging, the light turns off.

Device itself is as big as a bigger person's thumb. The box that it comes in, is minimalistic and resembles Apple's iPhone boxes. The box is small and rectangular. It has a micro-USB port, a led light, two strong magnets, which allow it to attach to most metal surfaces.

Continue to open the box, and you'll see the micro-USB cable and two metal plates coated with 3M tape. These plates can attach the Dragy to any area of your vehicle. At first, I was apprehensive about how you must keep the Dragy charged at all times. But, the Dragy's lithium-ion battery can last up to 8 hours on a single charge.

Dragy Installation Process

The Dragy starts by powering on the GPS device. Make sure that the LED light slowly flashes orange. Once fully charged, you can disconnect your USB cable to continue. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone before you open the application. After you have opened the application, tap the "connect" button. The app will load in a few seconds. The light will then turn blue for a while.

The application will be ready when the light changes to blue and the Dragy app is connected to satellites. Note: The GPS device must be placed in direct view of all satellite connections. Dragy checks for satellite connections in the sky. The stronger the connection, you will get more accurate the readings. You are ready to make your first runs on the app and see what it is all about.

The image above shows you the following:

  1. The app icon on iPhone
  2. Dragy app view once the app is opened (I skipped over the ad that got displayed immediately upon opening the app)
  3. Once I clicked "Connect" the app started using for the Dragy device using my phone's Bluetooth.

The image on the left displays the app being connected to the device. The middle screen is what happens after its done; the app goes into acquiring satellite data for more precise satellite tracking. Once these processes are done, the app is ready to be used.

The Dragy App Features

You can use the application in the vertical position to get the maximum benefit from what's available.

The main screen allows you to record the following performance statistics:

  • 0-30MPH
  • 0-60MPH (biggie)
  • 60-130MPH (biggie)
  • 0-130MPH (biggie)
  • 100-150MPH
  • 100-200MPH
  • 60-0MPH (biggie)
  • 1/8mile (NHRA Rules)
  • 1/4mile (NHRA Rules)
  • 1/2mile (NHRA Rules)
  • 1mile (NHRA Rules)

Also, consider measuring an MPH marker that you don't have. You can also track your distance. If you feel like running for less than 1 mile, you can do a 2-mile or 1.5-mile run. This is all done in feet, so you must multiply 5,280 feet by 2, 1.5, or 1.5.

Record A Video

to turn on the dragy camera you will have to press the camera button located at the top left corner

Tap on the top-left corner of the app to see a camera icon. This will take you horizontally to the recording screen. This screen will allow you to track your speed, distance traveled, and video resolution. These data can be saved to your phone's internal memory and transferred to an external device.

Here is a video that I took in Mexico of my car doing a 0-60 pull. Make sure that you are in a safe area and are not breaking any local laws when testing this device. Also, yes, this 535i xDrive is not super fast, unfortunately.

Stay Competitive

You can tap on the leaderboard tab to see the top performers from all brands of cars, such as Toyota, BMW, and Audi.

You might feel discouraged by the insanely fast 0-60mph times. However, keep in mind that these vehicles are almost always extremely modified. This data applies to the United States and Russia and Germany, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and many other countries. This is just one example of how far this device has reached car enthusiasts.

The Facebook Car Performance Tracking

Dragy's last feature, and one of its best features, is the "Feed tab," located at the bottom right before you reach the profile settings. So many users share photos and videos of themselves doing amazing things. You will find this in more than just the USA. It can be found all around the globe.

You can create a profile, add your vehicle to the garage tab, and post your information. This allows people to follow you and build a reputation. You can follow people on Instagram and see their latest posts.

Custom Your Profile & Settings

Tap the "Me" tab to see who sent you a message and the history of your runs, including the times and what you have in the garage. You can view all videos stored on the app before you export them. Choose your username wisely since that's what's going to show when you send your friends or followers videos that you created via Dragy App.

Dragy: The Pros and the Cons

Dragy and the entire system are almost bulletproof. This is because so many people downloaded the app to buy the device. After all, it works well and has a good user interface.

Pros

  • The Dragy app is free and easy to use.
  • The GPS device costs only 1/2 to 1/3 of the price you would pay for similar devices from other companies.
  • It measures 0-60 mph with high accuracy (1/100 second refresh)
  • The application allows you to connect with other users.

Cons

  • There is the short ad at the start of the app startup.
  • Downloading videos to your phone sometimes can get glitchy
  • Connecting to satellites can be slow, especially when it needs to be clarified.

Dragy App Review Final Thoughts

Dragy, as seen in this review, is an excellent product for automobile enthusiasts. It is an exceptional device for those with fast cars as well as the ones that think their cars are fast. A lot of times people speculate how fast their cars go 0-60mph or 100km/h but very few have the data to back up their claims. That is no longer the case if you have a Dragy in your car and can pull up the footage right away.
